Reading Newspaper Ads

Numbers are an important aspect of any language. In this lesson we will focus on reading and listening practice activities for numbers 101-1,000. We are going to start with a reading. Take a look at the different ads in the newspaper. There may be times when you need to fill in the gaps in the ads. Feel free to pause the video if you need more time.

!Muchas ofertas! !Grandes descuentos!

Now use the drawings in the ad to help you answer these questions. Think of the numerical value that should go in each blank.

?Cuánto cuesta el vestido? $125

?Cuánto cuestan los pantalones? $287

?Cuánto cuestan dos trajes? $500

Now take a minute to answer these questions.

?Qué cuesta mil dólares? Los coches

?Qué cuesta ochocientos veintinueve dólares? Las canoas y los kayaks

?Qué cuesta trescientos cincuenta y siete dólares? Las bicicletas

Listening: Garage Sale

Now you will listen to Alicia talk with her neighbors about her garage sale and the price of the items she is selling. After listening you will hear a series of true or false questions.

Now you are going to hear a statement based on the prices mentioned at the garage sale. Say if the sentence is true cierto or false falso.

Hay una televisión que cuesta $315. Falso. She says the stereo costs $315, the TV costs $750.
