Assessing ACT Practice Resources

Several online resources exist to prepare you for the math section on the ACT exam and help perfect your skills before the big day. Most free resources are limited to practice tests, which offer you a peek at what types of questions you'll be asked and the format of the questions. Test prep sites are also available to give you detailed information about taking the ACT, from what to expect on test day to personal instruction from online advisors.

ACT, Inc.

ACT, Inc., the organization that develops this college admissions test, offers free math practice questions on its website. Available resources include five sets of multiple-choice sample questions. Students who select incorrect answers are provided with suggestions for checking their calculations. If you get the answer correct, the site outlines each of the problem-solving steps needed to reach the solution.

You can also get free math practice by downloading an ACT preparation booklet that includes a complete sample test. The math section is comprised of 60 multiple-choice questions.

An answer key lets you see how many right answers were chosen for the entire test as well as on each of the math subsections. By following instructions for using a sample conversion table, you can get an idea of what your scaled scores would be.

Colleges and Universities
