Free Online ACT Prep - Comparison

Hundreds of websites offer free ACT test prep, but not all of them are equal. The majority of ACT prep materials include practice tests without any tutoring or informational material. These sites provide a great resource that get you familiar with ACT testing strategies and topics, but you can also find low-cost options that provide the additional education you'll need to master each subject on the ACT exam.

ACT, Inc.

The official registration site for the ACT test offers an array of free study materials to prepare for the test. Students can readily access these resources:

  • Preparing for the ACT is a free test prep booklet that includes test information, complete practice tests with scoring keys, and a writing prompt
  • Sample test questions for the core subjects - English, math, reading, and science - as well as one sample prompt for the optional writing test
  • Test-taking tips and test descriptions
  • The ACT Question of the Day

Kaplan Test Prep

Kaplan provides online practice tests and a detailed score review at no charge through its website. The tests are held on specific days and times with registration required. Kaplan also offers online information sessions to students and parents so you can learn more about the ACT. To register, Kaplan asks for your name, address, e-mail, and graduation date. They also require that a parent or guardian is connected to the account.

Peterson's

On Peterson's website, a full practice test is available to give you the chance to see what taking the ACT will be like. To access the test, you must create a free account using your name and e-mail address. Peterson's also offers five practice questions for each core subject, as well as one writing prompt, available for free without creating an account.

The Princeton Review

While The Princeton Review is known for their free test events, they also offer a self-paced online demo and test at no charge. You can register for the test by answering a series of questions about yourself and your academic goals, as well as providing your name, e-mail, and phone number.

Online ACT Test Prep - Study.com
