TExES Core Subjects EC-6: Test Dates & Registration

Instructor: Bill Sands
The TExES Core Subjects EC-6 exam is offered on a continuous basis. Read on to learn more about the registration process and find out how you can select your test date.

TExES Core Subjects EC-6 Exam Dates

The Core Subjects test (and most other tests in the TExES series) is available on a rolling basis. Rather than being required to attend a testing session on select dates, candidates have the flexibility to choose a date from a list of available appointment times. The exact time and date of such appointments depends on the testing centers closest to a candidate.

If you're looking to take the Core Subjects test, you can select and confirm your test date when you register.

TExES Registration Process

Registering for TExES tests can be done entirely online. It's a simple process that should take no more than a few minutes.

Registration for an exam closes 48 hours prior to a test date, but you should strongly consider signing up well in advance. Spots for TExES tests can fill up quickly, and if you wait too long, you may have to choose a different date than the one you had in mind.

The list below contains a comprehensive step-by-step guide to the registration process.

Step 1: Create an ETS Account

All assessments in the TExES series are administered by ETS, or the Educational Testing Service, and you'll have to create an account with this organization if you intend to sit for an exam.

If you don't have an account, it's a simple matter to create one. The only things you'll need to provide are your birth date, full name, and TEA ID number. (You should have received one when you created an account with the Texas Education Agency website.)

Step 2: Start the Process

Once you've created an account, you can log in and and click the 'register' button. Before starting, you'll be asked to agree with ETS' registration requirements and testing procedures. (Failure to adhere to these rules may lead to your scores being invalidated.)

Step 3: Select an Appointment

After agreeing, you'll be taken to the scheduling page, where you can set up your test date. In order to see all potential appointments, you'll need to first provide the name of the test you're taking. (If this is your initial attempt at the Core Subjects test, you'll need to sign up for the complete exam.)

You'll then need to enter your location and your testing site. Once a site is selected, you'll see a list of all possible appointments. Select the one that you most prefer.

Step 4: Review Content and Submit Payment

After choosing your test site and date, you'll be taken to a review page that relists all of your information. Read over this page extremely carefully to confirm that the information is correct; you don't want to accidentally sign up for the wrong test or location!

Next, you'll need to enter your billing information to pay the test fee, which is $131 for the Core Subjects assessment.

Step 5: Confirm Your Registration

Finally, you'll be asked to review all your information one final time. When you're sure that everything is in order, click the 'next' button to submit your request.

Assuming your information is in order and your payment processes, you'll then be issued your admission ticket. You should immediately print and save a copy of this ticket to bring with you on test day or else you will not be allowed to enter the testing center.
