14. Biomes: Tundra, Taiga, Temperate Grassland, and Coastlines
Take a trip with us in this lesson, starting in the Pacific Ocean, traveling across California through the Central Valley and up to the peaks of the Sierra Nevada mountains. We'll learn how oceans, elevation, and people can determine which types of biomes are found in different areas and check out the Earth's most massive and oldest organisms.
15. Biogeochemical Cycling and the Phosphorus Cycle
In this video lesson, we'll take a look at how elements large and small use other elements to grow. This is achieved through cycles. We'll look at macronutrients, trace elements and the biogeochemical and phosphorous cycles.
16. Analogous Structures: Definition & Examples
Though some species may appear to be related, if you take a deeper look you'll be surprised at how different they really are. Analogous structures can provide information about how natural selection leads to similar adaptations in the same environment.
17. Interglaciation: Definition & Explanation on the Interglacial Period
In this lesson we explore the term interglaciation. In the process, we discover exactly what determines a glacial period and how these fluctuations in Earth's climate have changed history.
18. What is an Ecological Footprint? - Definition, Calculation & Facts
This lesson addresses the concept of an ecological footprint. It includes definitions, examples, illustrations, and methods for reduction. There are bolded key terms and a brief quiz with explanations included.
19. What Is Camouflage in Animals: Definition & Examples
Most animals have some form of adaptation to make them more successful and increase their chances for survival. One such adaptation is camouflage. In this lesson, we explore the various types of camouflage found in the animal kingdom.
20. Positive & Negative Effects of Hunting
For some people, hunting represents a cultural tradition or a livelihood. Others see hunting as inhumane. This lesson discusses both the positive and negative aspects of hunting. After the lesson, take a quiz to see what you've learned, and make up your own mind.
21. Why Don't Cnidaria Have a Coelom?
In this lesson, we will discuss the characteristics of animal guts, and what ways Cnidarian guts are similar to or different from other animal guts. We will discuss the structure, operation, and functions of the Cnidarian body cavity.
