Eastern Suffolk Board of Cooperative Educational Services' Adult Education Programs
Eastern Suffolk BOCES combines the resources of 51 Long Island school districts to offer adult education classes on Long Island, NY. Over 300 adult education classes are available through Eastern Suffolk BOCES, including adult basic education, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and professional career development programs.
Adult Basic Education Program
Both adult basic education (ABE) and general educational development (GED) prep classes are offered to adult students who need to improve their reading, writing, math, science and social studies skills. The classes also cover consumer education, citizenship and basic job skills.
English for Speakers of Other Languages Program
Self-paced ESOL classes are available to adult students to help them improve their English speaking, reading, comprehension and writing skills. Citizenship is also covered.
Home Inspector Program
Students progress through a series of five modules to prepare to meet the requirements of the New York State Home Inspection licensing law and the New York State Home Inspector certification exam. In the final module, students participate in field experience.
EKG Technician Course
This course trains aspiring EKG technicians in the skills and techniques necessary for entry-level employment. Upon completion of the program, students may be eligible to sit for the American Association of Allied Health Professionals certification exam.
Students can take courses in business office technologies, such as QuickBooks. Also available is a notary public workshop, which prepares individuals for New York State (NYS) certification in this field.

Long Island University's Adult Education Programs
The School of Continuing Studies at Long Island University offers adult programs for those interested in upgrading their existing skills and preparing for new careers. Programs are offered at the Southampton graduate campus on Long Island, NY. Additionally, the Center for Creative Retirement provides senior adult education services, such as study groups, discussions and group trips to cultural centers in New York.
English Language Program

The Real Estate Center provides courses to help students meet the New York State requirements for licensing. Courses are offered in antitrust regulations, fair housing, real estate sales and brokering.
Art classes include a course for those interested in art as a career, as well as many courses for those exploring art as a hobby. Courses open to all skill levels include drawing, watercolors, fabric painting, faux finishing and oil painting.
