BLS states that administrative medical assistants do not need to be certified in order to perform their jobs. However, voluntary certifications available for individuals in the field are a Registered Medical Transcriptionist (RMT) offered by the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity and the Microsoft Office Specialist certification.
