Bachelor's Degrees in Business

In most business programs, students can learn about management, administration, leadership, international business, global diversity and business technology. Typically, business programs are divided into core curriculum segments and organized electives that allow students to select an area of specialization.

Business degrees can prepare students for careers as financial consultants, personal bankers, marketing managers, loan officers, administrative assistants, secretaries and entrepreneurs. While coursework may depend largely on the area of concentration, core courses may include subjects like:

Career Outlook and Salary Information

Employment for personal financial advisors, a group that includes financial consultants and personal bankers, could increase by 30% between 2014 and 2024, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) predicted. These professionals saw a median salary of $89,160, the BLS reported in May 2015.

The BLS noted that marketing managers might see employment grow by 9% during that decade. Their median salary was $128,750 as of May 2015. Loan officers could see 8% employment growth, and their median salary was $63,430 for the same year.

The BLS also states that executive administrative assistants and secretaries might see employment decrease by -6%. The median wage for these workers was $53,370.

Continuing Education Information

Individuals can pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA) after earning a bachelor's degree. Master's programs utilize simulations, coursework, lectures, case studies and scenarios. The legal environment, capital structure and strategic management are a few of the classes in the program. In most cases, earning an MBA can take 1-2 years with the chance to receive an internship between the first and second year.

A bachelor's degree program in business focuses on different aspects of how a business is run including management, leadership, and global diversity. In addition to an internship, students will complete coursework covering accounting, statistics for business, and ethics as well as other business classes that will be helpful in their future careers.
