Teacher Uses Videos to Provide a Better Learning Experience for Students
Michael McDonald teaches social sciences in Tennessee. In addition to teaching college students, Michael teaches some high school juniors and seniors who are enrolled in a special program that allows them to earn college credit while they are still in high school. Michael was looking for some supplemental materials to use in his classes when he came across the videos at Study.com.
He realized that these videos were a great tool to put to use in his classroom as a way to ensure students were learning everything they could. The quizzes on the site were especially useful to him, and they became a required part of his classes.
How Michael Used Our Quizzes
The quizzes at the end of every video provide a way for students to make sure they understood the key concepts presented in the lesson. Michael saw this as a great tool to use to ensure his students were learning what they needed to. A student not doing well on the quizzes served as an immediate red flag, making it easy to use the quizzes as his main way of seeing when a student is in trouble. Since the videos are straightforward and easy to understand, if a student isn't doing well with the quizzes then it's clear he has more work to do in class and must go over materials again to ensure students understand every important detail of each lesson.
In addition, he uses the quizzes as a guide for his own exams. He lets the students know that the material in the quizzes needs to be known because it will also be on the exam.
Michael's unique way of using our materials is just one way that teachers have benefited from Study.com. Have you found a great way to put our videos to use in your classroom? Maybe you could be the next Teacher Grant Award winner.
