Biostatistics for Medical Product Regulation at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health
This class consists of a series of lectures. Students who wish to read these lectures would benefit from having some prior knowledge of epidemiology and statistical reasoning. The course's 12 lectures cover such topics as missing data, interim monitoring, non-inferiority specification of Delta, bridging studies and study designs. All lectures can be downloaded from the course website. Readings are also recommended.
Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Tufts University
Before taking this course, students might want to consider obtaining the recommended textbooks and looking for the listed journal articles in the course's reading list. The goal of this course is to give students the skills needed to analyze medical literature by understanding the fields of biostatistics and epidemiology. Lecture notes and slides are available for download, and they cover such topics as observational studies, inferential statistics, regression techniques, cohort study evaluation and health determinants.
Introduction to Biostatistics at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health
Students who take this course learn about concepts and reasoning strategies in biostatistics. Lectures can be downloaded as either PDF or MP3 files. These lectures cover such topics as sampling variability, differences in means, theoretical distributions and hypothesis testing. The original campus-based course took four weeks to complete, but OCW users can complete course materials at their leisure. Practice problems along with solutions are also available via the course site.
Introduction to Biostatistics at the University of Saskatchewan
This course introduces basic statistical techniques with an emphasis on applications to health sciences and biological sciences. The course is split into two sections, both of which are downloadable from the course website. Students are taught life tables, experimental design, descriptive statistics and estimation.
Methods in Biostatistics I at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health
This course covers such subjects as statistical inference, applied probability, inference, proportions and other topics related to the field of biostatistics. The course is made up of 14 lectures, each of which can be downloaded from the class site. Lecture notes are supplemented with readings from six textbooks used in the original course. The course site also includes a page with links to outside resources that might be helpful for users working their way through the course material.
Methods in Biostatistics II at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health
Made up of 14 lectures, this second biostatics course in methods covers additional topics, such as expectation and variance, the central limit theorem, maximum likelihood estimation and continuous probability models. Assigned readings come from one textbook, and lecture notes are available on the course site. Like the previous course in biostatistics methods, OCW learners can utilize some of the resources that are provided on the course site.
Patients and Populations: Medical Decision-Making at University of Michigan
Based around case studies and diagnostic tests, this course provides a better understanding of information gathering and epidemiology. Students in this course will receive training in biostatistics and research design and will be expected to apply data to answer diagnostic questions. The course offers downloadable materials like lectures and handouts.
