Auburn University, Western Michigan University and California State University in Sacramento are three of the top schools for behavior analysis in the U.S. Each of these schools offers a master's program in behavior analysis, with Western Michigan University also offering a doctoral program.

1. Auburn University in Auburn, AL

School Highlight: The M.S. program in Applied Behavioral Analysis is a 12 month course with practicum training.

The university's Department of Psychology offers an M.S. in Applied Behavior Analysis in Developmental Disabilities. The program prepares students to take the Behavior Analysis Certification Board exam. Students take courses in behavioral pharmacology and applied psychology and work in an off-site training program. Coursework includes 24 semester hours and practicum training that adds 18 credit hours.

2. Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI

School Highlight: This national research university enrolls 24,000 students in the U.S. and from 100 different countries.

U.S. News & World Report ranked Western Michigan University (WMU) #97 on its list of top public schools in the nation for 2015. WMU offers an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Behavior Analysis with specializations in behavioral medicine and developmental disabilities. The M.A. program combines coursework with research to prepare students to work in mental health, educational and government settings. The Ph.D. program offers additional research and training opportunities, which can lead to positions in teaching or human services.

3. California State University in Sacramento, CA

School Highlight: The school has one of the most sought after Psychology programs in Northern California.

In 2012, U.S. News & World Report ranked California State University in Sacramento 67th on its list of regional universities in the West. Sacramento State offers a B.A. and an M.A. in Psychology program with a specialization in applied behavior analysis. Students explore principles and concepts of behavior analysis and take courses in behavioral problem assessment, experimental analysis and experimental design. Clinical training is provided at autism centers, children's hospitals and related locations. Specializations are also offered in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and Doctoral Preparation.
