Schools Overview

Baylor University and Drexel University both offer degree programs in the field of clothing and fashion design. The programs are mixture of business and art courses, teaching students to meet fashion demands with innovative or classic styles. Baylor offers an undergraduate program in the fashion design, as well as internship opportunities, while Drexel offers graduate study in the field.

1. Baylor University

School Highlight: In 2014, Kiplinger ranked Baylor 54th on its list of best values in private colleges.

In 2015, U.S. News and World Report ranked Baylor University 71st on its list of best universities nationwide. Baylor University offers a Bachelor of Arts in Apparel Design & Product Development program with classes covering fashion theory and consumer behavior, apparel design, visual merchandising and promotion, apparel aesthetics, textile science and apparel quality analysis. The school also offers internships in apparel design and apparel merchandising.

2. Drexel University

School Highlight: Drexel University was ranked 10th among up-and-coming schools by U.S. News and World Report in 2015.

The Princeton Review listed the school as one of the best schools in the Northeast. The school's undergraduate and graduate clothing design programs offer real-world experience opportunities in clothing design. For instance the Journal of Culture and Retail Image and D&M Magazine accept submissions from the school's Design and Merchandising program. Meanwhile, Drexel's Fashion Design program features a six-month co-operative learning environment culminating in the Drexel Fashion Show. The graduate-level curriculum for fashion design includes classes on the business of fashion, clothing design issues, modern design history, technical design, pattern-making and drawing.
