Movie Theater Manager Career Information
Movie theater managers lead theater employees and staff to ensure that the day-to-day functions of the theater are carried out efficiently. The manager sets work schedules so shifts are adequately staffed and all needed positions are covered, including workers for concessions, ticket counters, projection booths and custodial duties. Since managers train employees in the various job skills needed to work in a movie theater, they must be able to perform the tasks assigned to the rest of the staff.
Customer Service Duties
Because they interact extensively with the public, movie theater managers need to have excellent communication skills and promote positive customer experiences for movie-goers. For example, managers may need to assist employees with customer relations, especially if a patron has a complaint or negative experience. Additionally, movie theater managers must be able to work collaboratively with staff, motivating them to serve guests and maintain a good attitude.
In addition to staffing and customer relations, movie theater managers are responsible for accountability in terms of inventory and accurate cash drawers. They may also be in charge of budgeting and financial planning for the theater, which could require them to maintain records, set marketing goals and create or place promotional materials.
