The OpenCourseWare Consortium: Helping Learners Help Themselves

Since its beginning, the OCW Consortium has served as a bridge between world-class universities wanting to share their courses and learners like you all over the world who believe that everyone who wants to learn should have access to the resources to do so. Today, the OCW Consortium's library boasts of more than 6,000 courses in a dozen languages - searchable by topic, language and institution. There are open education resources covering everything from music theory to biochemical engineering, taught by faculty of the world's top institutions - all yours, free for the viewing.

Unfortunately, a survey on Study.com found that almost 40% of visitors don't know what OCW is. The OCW Consortium's current efforts are geared toward increasing awareness of the great range of resources available to independent learners. To help spread the word, the Consortium is organizing Open Education Week, which will take place March 5-10, 2012. This week will highlight the best in open education and, as a virtual event, will be a great resource for people all over the world to learn more about open education. Your 'Like' will help Open Education Week succeed.

Why Are We Doing This?

Study.com shares the OCW Consortium's vision of a world where everyone who wants to learn has the opportunity to access the education they need. Because of this, we've pledged to support the OCW Consortium's efforts to spread access to education and information.
