Sacramento City College is the seventh oldest state-funded community college in California and enrolls approximately 23,000 students. Its main campus is located in Sacramento, but it also operates two other campuses. The college's Business Division consists of two departments, including the Computer Information Science Department. The department offers an Associate in Science - Web Developer, Certificate of Achievement - Webmaster Level 1 and a Certificate of Achievement - Webmaster Level 2.
In addition to completing general education classes, students in the 60-unit Associate in Science - Web Developer program learn to design code, script, program and manage websites. Programming languages taught include HTML, active server pages (ASP), hypertext-preprocessor (PHP) and CGI scripting. Classes cover Linux operating systems, middleware Web scripting, Web server administration, network administration, server-side Web scripting and network security fundamentals.
