Undergraduate and graduate programs in business finance can be found at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, an Ivy League school. New York University, one of the largest private institutions in the country, also offers undergraduate and graduate programs in finance; students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology can pursue a master's degree. Duke University offers master's and doctoral degrees.

University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA

School Highlight: The Wharton Business School has another location in San Francisco, in addition to 20 initiatives and research centers.

The University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia is a private institution that ranked number one in the country for its graduate business finance programs, according to U.S. News & World Report in 2016. The university is home to the Wharton School of Business, which enrolls roughly 5,000 students. The school's Finance Department awards Bachelor of Science, Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees. Students can pursue four areas of study, including banking, corporate finance, portfolio management and international finance.

New York University in New York, NY

School Highlight: This university offers a multitude of paths for business students, at all levels and in various areas of study.

The Stern Finance Department, part of the Leonard N. Stern School of Business, offers an undergraduate degree, a Master of Science in Global Finance, part-time or full-time MBA programs, an Executive MBA degree, dual business degrees, and a Ph.D. program. Withal, program features include seminars and conferences. Undergraduate students can pursue work-study positions; Ph.D. candidates may participate in ongoing research. Advanced certificates are also available in business, marketing and finance. The graduate finance program was ranked third by the U.S. News & World Report in 2016.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, MA

School Highlight: MIT's Sloan school provides students with the opportunity to choose from 10 different degree programs in business and management.

MIT placed sixth on the U.S. News & World Report list of top business finance programs for 2016. Through the Sloan School of Management, an undergraduate program in business is offered. Additionally, the school offers master programs in global operations, finance, management and management studies. MBA degree programs and executive MBA programs are offered. There are also fellowships and a Ph.D. program.

Duke University in Durham, NC

School Highlight: Duke's finance faculty have won several teaching awards and serve as editors for key professional journals.

Duke University was ranked eighth on U.S. News & World Report's list of national universities in 2016. The school is also listed as twelfth in the list of best business schools. Programs are available at the master's and doctoral degree levels, as well as in a variety of formats, including weekend classes. Students can choose from a MBA with finance focus, MMS, or PhD in Business Administration. The Center for Financial Excellence offers workshops and training programs as well.
