The University of Notre Dame is a Catholic university that ranked #16 on U.S. News & World Report's list of best national universities for 2015. Notre Dame offers a Master of Arts in Early Christian Studies. Students in this program learn ancient languages so they can study Christian literature in original dialects. Other classes include liturgy, philosophy and history.

2. Duke University in Durham, NC

In 2015, Duke University ranked #8 on U.S. News & World Report's survey of the best national universities. The Divinity School is a seminary affiliated with the United Methodist Church. However, the school also offers programs for students who aren't seeking ordination, such as the 1-year Master of Arts in Christian Studies program.
