Two of the three schools profiled below, Hofstra University and New York University, are located in New York State. Both schools offer undergraduate programs in pre-law that can help students prepare for specialized graduate studies or a Master of Laws (L.L.M.) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) program. Through the College of Arts and Sciences, students can enroll in the Barbara and Evan Chesler Pre-law Program. Available at the School of Law, graduate degree programs include studies in business, constitutional and tax law. Students can also pursue a 'layering program', which trains them to become top-notch lawyers ready for professional practice and courtroom litigation.
