Career Information for Jobs for Right-Brained People

Writers and Authors

Right-brained people can explore their creativity with the written word by pursuing a career as a writer or author. They usually need a bachelor's degree in a subject such as English, and they can be involved in writing content for things like movies, commercials or books. Right-brained people are more likely to be drawn to creative fiction projects that involve creating their own characters, worlds and stories, and may be more interested in publishing novels or writing movie scripts than writing nonfiction material.

Art Teachers (High School)

Since right-brained people are creative, they may enjoy the opportunity to promote creative development in others. Although it's possible to teach art at any grade level, high school art teachers may particularly enjoy the opportunities to display their student's work and cover information about more advanced art techniques. Art teachers in the public school system need to have a bachelor's degree and a teaching license.

Multimedia Artists and Animators

Multimedia artists and animators can take advantage of their artistic talents in a career field in which they produce models or images for visual media. Their work might be used in a commercial or in a video game. Right-brained individuals may excel in this type of work, because they can fully explore their creative ideas while producing content to meet their client or employer's needs. They can prepare for this career by earning a bachelor's degree in art or a similar subject area, and they must know how to use appropriate computer design software.

Directors

Directors work on things like plays and movies. Their job is to take a script and make it a reality; they perform various tasks such as auditioning actors and overseeing the crew. Right-brained people may find this an intriguing career option because they can use their creative talents to interpret scripts, make decisions about the set design, choose actors and influence filming techniques that camera operators use. A bachelor's degree and experience in performing arts are usually required to work as a director.

Musicians and Singers

Although studies in musical theater may be an asset and some singers may need to have a bachelor's degree, many musicians and singers do not necessarily need any formal training. They use their musical talents to entertain people, and can do this by recording music or performing live. Right-brained people who are musically talented may appreciate the chance to develop their own musical sound and style, to write songs, and to be able to use their talents regularly in their job; they may also enjoy the irregular schedule that musicians and singers have.

Architects

Architects are the creative visionaries behind building designs. Right-brained people can take advantage of their imagination and use it to inform their designs in an architecture career. Architects determine the needs and desires of their clients and then create plans and oversee the construction of the buildings. A license and bachelor's degree in architecture are required to work as a professional architect; some architects may chose to complete a master's degree as well.
