Career Information for Jobs that Don't Involve Paperwork
Craft and Fine Artists
Craft and fine artists include artistic professionals such as painters, sculptors and jewelry makers. They create original artistic works using their specific talents. Although they do not necessarily need to have postsecondary training a bachelor's degree in fine art or a similar subject is recommended. They spend their time designing and producing works, and while some may opt to occasionally apply for financing for projects this is a not a requirement to work in this field.
Grounds Maintenance Workers
Grounds maintenance workers may be able to begin working without any prior formal training, although those who handle things like pesticides may be required to have a license. A high school diploma or GED is not required. Grounds maintenance workers spend their time looking after the outdoor areas in places such as parks, and they may also look after indoor plants in hotels and other locations. They do things like trim and water plants and cut grass. Paperwork is a not a part of their duties.
Construction Laborers and Helpers
Construction laborers and helpers perform a lot of physical labor in their work. They may do things like remove trash, dig holes or carry supplies; some construction laborers and helpers also operate equipment. They are not required to do paperwork. Construction laborers and helpers receive on-the-job training and may be able to pursue this type of work without a high school diploma, although graduating from high school may be an asset when applying for work.
Cashiers do no necessarily need to graduate from high school but a GED or high school diploma may help increase job prospects. Cashiers spend their shifts calculating the cost of purchases and taking payment from customers. They may also refund customers for returned merchandise or do other tasks, such as cleaning. They are not typically required to do paperwork as part of their job.
Barbers, Hairdressers and Cosmetologists
Barbers and hairdressers are responsible for tasks such as washing and cutting hair, while cosmetologists focus on things like treating people's skin. These are beauty care professionals who help people modify their appearance by changing hair lengths, altering hairstyles, dying hair different colors or applying makeup. They are not required to complete paperwork as part of their regular duties. A high school diploma is usually needed to work in this field, and barbers, hairdressers and cosmetologists must also complete training in this field and earn a license.
Intercity and transit bus drivers are transportation professionals who are required to have a commercial driver's license; also having a high school diploma or GED is recommended, since it will appeal to most potential employers. These bus drivers may drive routes within a city or town and be responsible for stopping to pick up or drop off passengers, collect fairs and operate the bus. Intercity bus drivers take people from town to town. Intercity and transit bus drivers are not required to do paperwork regularly.
