Automotive Collision Repair and Refinishing Career Certificate
This program prepares students for employment as automotive body technicians, paint and body helpers, automotive refinishers, auto collision estimators and automobile body repairers. The required 1,400 hours is divided into the following segments: paint and body helper, paint and body assistant, auto collision estimator, frame and body repairman, automotive refinishing and auto body repairer. In addition to being certified by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), this program is approved by both the National Automotive Technical Education Foundation (NATEF) and I-CAR. This program qualifies students for I-CAR and ASE certifications. Possible ASE certifications include electrical and mechanical components, structural analysis and repair, non-structural analysis and repair, and collision repair and refinishing technician.
Completion of this program earns students 5 occupational completion points (OCP). When a program is made up of two or more occupational completion points, this means that the program as a whole will get students to an advanced-level career, but it's segmented so students first learn the necessary skills for one or more lower-level careers. Then, if they have finished one of the lower-level occupational completion points, they can leave school and start work in the lower-level career, without finishing the whole program.
