Brookdale Community College's Certified Nurse Aide in Long-Term Care program is offered through its business and community development division.
Certified Nurse Aide in Long-Term Care
This hands-on training program prepares students for employment in a nursing home or long-term care facility. Admission requires a clear background check, immunizations records, a high school diploma or GED certificate and a physical exam. The 96-hour program is held over a 6-week period. Instruction covers topics such as physical care skills, the role of a nurse aide, patient rights and psychosocial care skills. A clinical experience at a nursing home is included in the program curriculum. Earned credits transfer to the college's nursing program.
Monmouth County Vocational School District
This school district's CNA program is one of its health science programs. The program is held in the evenings on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Certified Nurse Aide
Graduates of this program can pursue work in a long-term care facility. The program consists of 90 hours of study, 50 of which are classroom work and 40 of which are clinical experience hours. Admission requirements include a physical exam, possessing a high school diploma or GED certificate and passing a basic skills test. Graduates are eligible to sit for the state's Nurse Aide in Long-Term Care Facility certification exam.
