Essential Information

There are five Christian colleges in Colorado representing a variety of faiths. These schools are mainly concentrated in the Denver region, although some schools may have additional campuses located in different areas. Students may opt to earn awards ranging from certificates to doctoral degrees. While many of the degrees offered relate to divinity, majors offered by institutions vary widely, from the arts to sciences. Affirmation of personal religious beliefs may be required for school admission.

Colorado Christian University

Colorado Christian University (CCU) is a member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities and has a main campus in Lakewood and regional centers located in Grand Junction and Sterling. In total, this school has seven locations across the state. This private, non-denominational institution offers more than 50 associate's, bachelor's and master's degree programs, as well as certificate and educator licensing programs for students and adult learners.

Students can choose from a variety of undergraduate majors, including psychology, liberal arts, theology, biology, worship arts, youth ministry, music and pre-medicine studies. Master's degree options include curriculum and instruction, business administration and counseling. Most programs are administered in traditional classroom settings, and some are even offered online.

Denver Seminary

Located in Littleton, Denver Seminary is a non-denominational, evangelical college that prepares students for spiritual leadership positions as teachers, chaplains and pastors. Students and staff are required to affirm their commitment to the National Association of Evangelicals' Statement of Faith in writing. The school offers post-baccalaureate certificate, master's degree and doctoral degree programs in variety of specialties, such as biblical studies, theology, counseling, leadership and ministries.

Iliff School of Theology

Iliff School of Theology offers master's degree and postgraduate certificate programs at its Denver campus. In addition to five master's degree programs in theology that can prepare students for ordination or spiritual leadership positions, the school also offers a joint PhD program in religious and theological studies with the University of Denver. This school also offers eight graduate certificate programs, allowing students to take graduate courses without committing to a full degree program. Certificate credits may be applied to the school's degree programs. The school is affiliated with the United Methodist Church and has been recognized in 2009 as one of the top 20 multi-faith seminaries, according to Auburn Theological Seminary.

Nazarene Bible College

Located on a 43-acre hilltop campus in Colorado Springs, Nazarene Bible College was founded in 1964 by the General Assembly Church of the Nazarene. One of just 10 Nazarene colleges in the country, this school offers an exclusive ministry education leading to a Bachelor of Arts in Ministry and an Associate of Arts in Lay Ministries. It is one of two Nazarene colleges intended to train ministers.

Students in the four-year bachelor's degree program can choose among 10 majors and six minors, including Bible and theology studies, Christian counseling, music ministries and pastoral ministries. Students in the two-year associate's degree program have five concentration options. There are also certificate programs to prepare men and women for leadership in the Church of the Nazarene.
