Inside Teaching Reading

According to the International Reading Association, reading specialists work with students who are struggling to master reading. In addition, they work with other teachers to develop and implement a reading curriculum for these students. Reading specialists must possess teacher certification and complete a graduate-level reading specialist certificate or a master's degree program in reading education or literacy.

Education Information

In a reading teacher degree or graduate certificate program, students complete courses that train them to diagnose reading problems, incorporate trends and technology in reading, use creativity in teaching and help students overcome reading difficulties.
