Inside Securities Services Management

Many companies and organizations now employ security professionals to protect property and people from fire, theft, vandalism, terrorism and illegal activity. Those who are interested in working in the securities field can choose to become a security officer or to work in security services management. The jobs and responsibilities of these individuals can vary greatly from one employer to another.

To enter the field of security services management, rigorous screening is necessary; this typically consists of background checks, criminal record checks and fingerprint checks. Most applicants to this field are also expected to provide good character references, have no serious police record and be in good health. In many cases, a college education is not necessary, but most employers will require a high school diploma or the equivalent. Other requirements might include working for several years as a security officer and/or receiving specialized on-the-job training.
