Inside Ethics

Ethics refers to the examination of what is morally right and wrong and why society understands it that way. Depending on the field of study, a career in ethics may involve the analysis of social, professional or personal conduct. Those who study ethics are tasked with creating and implementing policies and standards within a given field.

Although considered a subset of philosophy and the humanities, ethics branches into many fields, including social and environmental policy-making, law, medicine and business. A variety of specialties exist, including medical and biomedical ethics, business and corporate ethics, legal policy, environmental ethics, political theory and religious ethics.
