Inside Land Use Planning and Development

Land use planning is a multidisciplinary field that deals with the design, location and policy related to the development of land. Land use planners seek to create and improve plans that stimulate new growth in areas and revitalize or repurpose older communities. Planners and developers take into account economic, social and environmental factors when creating development plans and recommending locations for new businesses, schools and other buildings. They must also work to maintain residents' quality of life while accommodating economic growth.
