According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), employment of clinical, counseling and school psychologists was expected to increase 11% from 2012-2022 ( During the same time, employment growth for industrial-organizational psychologists was predicted to grow 53%, and for other types of psychologists, it was anticipated to increase 11%.

Depending on the desired specialty, a psychologist's salary may vary. In May 2013, the BLS reported that clinical, counseling and school psychologists earned a median salary of $67,760. Industrial-organizational psychologists earned a median salary of $80,330, while all other psychologists earned a median annual income of $91,140.
