Programs at Western Career College

Dental

Western Career College offers certificate-level programs in dental assisting and dental hygiene. The dental assisting program prepares students to take x-rays, make dental impressions and perform basic dental procedures. Students in the dental hygiene program learn to assess patients' oral health, remove plaque, take x-rays, administer local anesthesia, apply fluoride and provide dietary counseling. Upon completion of the program, students are prepared to take state licensing examinations.

Medical

Western Career College offers a number of medical programs, including health care administration, health information technology, massage therapy, medical assisting, respiratory therapy, surgical technology and ultrasound technology. Some programs prepare students to sit for state, regional or national licensing examinations. Availability of specific programs varies by Western Career College campus.

Western Career College offers a criminal justice program through its Antioch, Citrus Heights, Emeryville, Pleasant Hill, San Jose, San Leandro and Stockton locations. The criminal justice program prepares students to work in various areas of law enforcement, including in security, loss prevention and criminal investigation. Many students completing this program find employment opportunities at the local, state and federal levels.

Nursing

Both vocational and registered nursing programs are available at Western Career College. The registered nursing program, available at the Sacramento campus, is designed for people who are already licensed vocational nurses (LVN's). The program helps them expand their skills and prepare for the licensing exam to become registered nurses (RN's). The vocational nursing program is available in Antioch, Sacramento, San Jose and San Leandro. It prepares students to work as LVN's under the guidance of RN's or physicians.

Pharmacy

The pharmacy technology program at Western Career College prepares students to work as pharmacy technicians. Students learn the technical and practical skills they'll need to assist pharmacists. The program is available at the Antioch, Citrus Heights, Emeryville, Pleasant Hill, Sacramento, San Jose, San Leandro and Stockton locations.

Technical

Design drafting and graphic design are offered as part of Western Career College's technical programs. The drafting program teaches students the basic artistic and technical skills need to draft designs. The graphic design program provides students with the essential skills and knowledge they'll need for entry-level careers in graphic design.

Veterinary

Western Career College offers a veterinary technician training program. This program is available at the Citrus Heights, Pleasant Hill, Sacramento, San Jose, San Leandro and Stockton campuses. This program gives students the technical and practical training they'll need to work as assistants to licensed veterinarians.
