Fairfield University

Located in Fairfield, this comprehensive, Jesuit university enrolls more than 4,900 students and offers a post-graduate degree certificate program in human resources management. The program is intended for working professionals who wish to expand their skill sets and increase their marketability in the field. The 15-credit program includes required coursework and four elective courses; course topics may include human resource strategies, management for global business, labor relations, legal aspects of human resource management and employee performance. The program is offered through the university's Charles F. Dolan School of Business and students enjoy opportunities to interact with experienced faculty and peers on group problem-solving scenarios.

University of Bridgeport

This private, not-for-profit school is located in Bridgeport and features more than 125 career-oriented programs. Among these is a Master of Business Administration (MBA) program with the option to concentrate in one of eight areas, including human resources management. The program prepares students for leadership positions in human resources and business and boasts renowned faculty scholars and close proximity to business centers in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. The MBA program requires students to complete 54 credits, at least 30 of which are at the graduate level. Core courses include accounting, leadership, marketing, economics and statistics. The program goes on to cover human resources subjects such as organizational behavior, labor law, assessment and operation management. Capstone courses and an internship or thesis are also required in order to earn this degree. An accelerated option is available for students who wish to earn this degree in about one year; the MBA can also be earned in conjunction with another master's degree in a dual degree program.

University of Connecticut

The University of Connecticut (UConn) is a 4-year, public college located in Storrs, Connecticut. UConn offers a part-time, online master's program in human resource management for mid-career professionals. Master's degree candidates in human resource management must complete 30 credit hours worth of online courses, which cover subjects including strategic human resource management, labor law, compensation and benefits, training, program evaluation and intercultural communication. Additionally, students must demonstrate their knowledge of human resource management through a 6-credit capstone and a professional residency. Students typically complete this program in six part-time semesters.

University of New Haven

West Haven's University of New Haven (UNH) is a 4-year, private, not-for-profit school that offers a graduate certificate in human resources management through its College of Business. UNH's certificate program is geared toward human resource professionals seeking to boost their proficiency in the field. This part-time program includes a required graduate-level course in human resources management, through which students gain skills in recruitment, training and compensation of employees. Otherwise, students craft their own curricula by choosing from a variety of electives, ranging from industrial relations to financial decision making. The program normally takes six months to complete.
