Kinesiology master's programs tend to be specialized, and possible concentrations include clinical exercise science; public health and physical activity; physical activity and its physiological basis; and wellness management and coaching. Programs are typically two years in length. Laboratory courses and clinical practica as well as a thesis may be required.

Applicants need a bachelor's degree in kinesiology or another field if exercise science courses have been taken. They will also need to submit GRE scores and two or three letters of recommendation.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), coaches and scouts earned an average of $40,050 per year as of 2015. Job opportunities in this field were expected to increase 6% between 2014 and 2024, which is average. Aspiring coaches with college degrees should have a leg up on the competition, reports the BLS.
