College of Southern Nevada's Adult School Programs

The Division of Workforce and Economic Development at the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) offers personal enrichment and career enhancement programs in addition to adult literacy and language programs. Adult students can complete a high school diploma, train for a specific career or take courses purely for leisure. Only one bachelor degree program is offered, which is an online Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene. Otherwise, degree options are restricted to the associate and certificate levels.

Adult Literacy and Language Program

CSN's adult literacy program prepares students who have not graduated from high school to take the General Educational Development (GED) test. Courses are offered in all the basic areas covered on the GED exam, including mathematics, reading, science, social studies and writing. The program also includes English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, which are designed for students who wish to improve listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. A course on reducing accents helps students with pronunciation and understanding cultural norms, such as body gestures.

Computer Technology Program

Several fields of focus are offered through the Computing & Information Technology (CIT) department's associate's degree program. The department also offers certificate tracks in Electronic Crime Investigation and Information Management. Students learn about network computing and office software.
