Career School of NY

The Career School of NY offers a cosmetology certificate program and an esthetics certificate program.

Esthetics Certificate Program

The esthetics program is currently only available as an evening program, which can be completed in 50 weeks. Coursework emphasizes skincare and make-up application and prepares students for the New York State esthetics licensing examination.

Cosmetology Certificate Program

The cosmetology certificate program is available as a day or evening program. The day program can be completed in 29 weeks, while the evening program can be completed in 50 weeks. The cosmetology program has a broader focus than the esthetics program and covers a variety of cosmetology topics, including make-up application, hairstyling and skin care.

Western Suffolk BOCES

The Western Suffolk Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) offers esthetics and cosmetology certificate programs at the Wilson Technological Center.

Esthetics Certificate Program

The 600-hour esthetics program prepares students to take the New York State esthetics licensing examination. The program covers topics such as make-up techniques, business training and facial procedures.

Cosmetology Certificate Program

The 1,000-hour cosmetology program prepares students to become licensed cosmetologists. Students learn about make-up application, hairstyling and manicures. After completing the program, students are eligible to take the NY State Cosmetology exam.
