Aspiring obstetrics and gynecology doctors, also known as OBGYNs, have to earn a bachelor's degree in biology, psychology or chemistry before applying to medical school to ensure they complete all the necessary prerequisite math and science courses. Biology, psychology and chemistry bachelor's programs typically have pre-med tracks and consist of classroom lectures, research opportunities and hands-on labs. Biology students get a comprehensive understanding of biology and its related branches, and gain direct experience in internships at research facilities, laboratories or zoos. Psychology coursework includes general education classes and covers mental health, group behavior and statistical research. Chemistry study goes over a range of technical subjects, including calculus and physics. All 3 of these programs require a high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) equivalent and acceptable Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and American College Testing (ACT) scores for admission.
