April 27, 2017

Mountain View, CA — Study.com, one of the largest providers of online video courses for K-12 and college, has made the list of 2017 Bay Area Best Places to Work, an awards program presented by the San Francisco Business Times and the Silicon Valley Business Journal.

"I feel honored and humbled to work with such a great team," says Adrian Ridner, CEO and Co-founder of Study.com. "It is amazing the culture you can create when you have exceptionally smart and passionate employees united in a mission to educate the world."

Study.com operates under a motto, "Do well so we can do good," and it's not just talk. The company recently launched a program called Mountain View Working Scholars which offers anyone in the local community a chance to earn a bachelor's degree for free. "This philanthropic effort and our daily mission of making education accessible continually energizes and motivates the team," said Ridner.

Culture and celebrating success are very important at Study.com. With company-wide parties, weekly happy hours and special-themed events, employees work hard and play hard. People are also encouraged to join shared interest groups like creative writing, tabletop games, sports, billiard team, bowling league, and hiking. These events have helped Study.com employees develop real friendships and trust within the organization.

In addition to an energizing mission to educate the world, a culture of fun and collaboration, and world-class benefits, one truly unique benefit Study.com offers employees and their families is the opportunity to take over 80 college courses online for free. The courses are transferable to over 2,000 colleges and cover a majority of the general education requirements at most schools—alleviating a bulk of tuition costs for family members in need of getting their bachelor's degree. Families with younger children can take advantage of free access to the K-12 courses and study tools to help with homework and improve grades.

"It's a fantastic opportunity to continue learning. I'm earning a second bachelor's degree now. My first degree cost over $100,000. Getting another for free is too good of a chance to miss. Plus, my kids can use the videos to help them with their homework," says Jeff Calareso, Senior Manager of Content at Study.com.

2017 Bay Area Best Places to Work Awards are based on employee rankings across five categories such as fun, collaborative culture, solid compensation and benefits offerings, and other amenities as well as management practices. Results of the 14th annual "Best Places to Work" Awards were presented by the San Francisco Business Times and Silicon Valley Business Journal on April 18th at a celebration held at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco. Adrian Ridner, CEO of Study.com accepted the award on behalf of the company.
