Pharmaceutical Management Courses and Classes
Pharmaceutical management courses teach students how to provide the correct drugs in the correct amount to individuals. Such courses are generally taken at the graduate level through a certificate or degree program.
Typically, pharmaceutical management courses are available through graduate certificate, master's degree and doctoral degree programs in pharmaceutical management, business administration and pharmacy. Some common programs include the Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a pharmaceutical management concentration, the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Pharmacy Administration and the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D). Unlike the other programs, a Pharm.D program leads to licensure as a pharmacist.
Some common pharmaceutical management courses include those in managerial professionalism; pharmacy and health care systems; research and drug development; and pharmaceutical product development and marketing. Courses usually include hands-on experience and some mock simulations.
Students in business programs often take additional courses in topics like accounting, global business, quality management and project management. Those in Pharm.D. programs complete extensive pharmacy coursework and clinical practica.
