School Information

Over 200 schools provide phlebotomy programs in the U.S. The National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) accredits approximately 60 programs, most of which are offered by 2-year technical, vocational or community colleges. Below are some of the largest schools accredited by the NAACLS for phlebotomy training.

1. Cuyahoga Community College District in Cleveland, OH

Cuyahoga Community College, located in Cleveland, Ohio, provides a variety of career-focused programs to more than 23,000 students. The 1-year phlebotomy certification program includes classes in medical terminology, blood collecting techniques, human biology and an 8-week clinical laboratory section. Successful completion allows students to sit for the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Registry Examination, or to continue studies for an A.A.S. in Medical Laboratory Technology.

2. Milwaukee Area Technical College in Milwaukee, WI

The 1-semester phlebotomy certification program at Milwaukee Area Technical College focuses on the skills and theory of phlebotomy. Students take classes and gain practical experience drawing blood at a medical facility. The college serves 18,700 students and is located the Milwaukee Metropolitan Area.
