Maryland Schools with Radiology Programs
Individuals in Maryland who wish to become radiologic technologists or technicians can find training programs for this profession in various colleges throughout the state. Many of these are offered by community colleges and result in an associate's degree. A 2-year degree can meet the requirement for those seeking professional certification in this field, and completion of many of these programs can allow graduates to sit for the certification examination administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

- At Montgomery College, students can complete a radiology technology associate's degree program. The main campus is located in Rockville, Maryland, just over 40 miles southwest of downtown Baltimore.
- Anne Arundel Community College has a radiology degree program similar to that of Montgomery College. The school is based about seven miles north of downtown Annapolis, about 35 miles east of Washington, DC.

Montgomery College, founded in 1946, is a small three-campus community college in Montgomery County, MD. It offers programs in over 100 disciplines, and approximately 60,000 students enroll in full-time, part-time, or noncredit courses each year.
Associate of Applied Science in Radiologic (X-Ray) Technology
The radiology program at Montgomery College is composed of classroom instruction and a clinical component. Required general education courses include anatomy, physiology, computers, English and medical terminology. Students also take courses in radiology technology, radiographic positioning and clinical radiology. Students develop their patient care, radiographic, communication, psychomotor and cognitive skills, all necessary to function as a radiographer in a clinical environment.
Graduates are eligible to take the national certification test by the ARRT. An agreement between the college and the College of Notre Dame in Baltimore allows students to transfer associate degree credits towards a bachelor's degree in radiology.
Anne Arundel Community College
Established in 1961, Anne Arundel Community College in Maryland is a large, suburban school that offers 2-year degree programs, as well as certificates, continuing education programs and courses. Radiology programs are offered through the School of Health Professions, Wellness and Physical Education.
Associate of Applied Sciences in Radiologic Technology
Applicants to the radiology program must have taken courses in biology, algebra and calculus. Students complete general education requirements along with required curriculum. Courses include radiographic procedures, clinical radiography, operating and maintaining the equipment, radiation protection and techniques in patient management.
Students must complete clinicals in a hospital or with a private practice group. They become familiar with both computer and digital radiology techniques. The school has connections with 17 clinical facilities, providing students with experience using various types of technology. Students who complete the program may sit for the ARRT exam in order to become certified radiologic technologists.
