Asheville - Buncombe Technical Community College

This Asheville college offers a 75-credit Associate in Applied Science in Hospitality Management program that prepares students for supervisory positions with restaurants, catering companies and other dining establishments. Courses cover subjects like food and beverage service, restaurant management, facilities management, event planning and cost control. Students receive hands-on hospitality training at the student-run Mountain Tech Lodge, which is located on the campus, and they are required to complete a co-op work experience.

Carteret Community College

Located in Morehead City, Carteret Community College features hospitality management programs at the certificate, diploma and associate degree levels. The 16-credit restaurant management certificate program includes courses in food and beverage service, restaurant management and cost control. Students enrolled in the hospitality management diploma program are required to complete 38 credits in courses such as restaurant management, cost control, marketing, human resource management and front office procedures. The hospitality management associate degree program requires 73 credits for graduation and combines general education requirements with hospitality and restaurant management courses.

Central Piedmont Community College

Central Piedmont Community College is located in Charlotte and offers a 16-credit restaurant management certificate program that covers beverage management, food and beverage service, hospitality training, food and beverage controls and hospitality etiquette. Students in the restaurant management diploma program are required to complete 46 credits in courses like cost control, human resource management, food and beverage service, management problems and sanitation. The hospitality management associate degree program is 74 credits in length and provides coursework in club and resort management, food and beverage service, event planning and cooperative education.

East Carolina University

The School of Hospitality Leadership at Greenville's East Carolina University offers several programs that can help prepare students for restaurant management positions. There is a hospitality management bachelor's degree program that offers three concentrations, including one in food and beverage. Courses are available onsite and online. Students who choose the food and beverage concentration complete courses in wine and beverage management, classical cuisine and food production in addition to a pertinent field experience. A hospitality management minor is available as well. East Carolina University also offers a graduate hospitality management certificate in conjunction with its Master of Business Administration program. To receive this certificate, students complete four courses that cover food service and beverage management analysis, hospitality management strategies, convention and special event management and lodging operations management.

Fayetteville Technical Community College

Fayetteville Technical Community College offers several certificate programs and an associate degree program in Fayetteville that can prepare students for careers in restaurant management. The hotel and restaurant management certificate program is 17 credits in length and includes coursework in marketing, sanitation, front office procedures and restaurant management. Credits from the certificate program are transferable to the 71-credit hospitality management associate degree program. Courses in the degree program cover human resource management, cost control, marketing, accounting and restaurant management. A co-op work experience is also required.

Guilford Technical Community College

Located in Jamestown, Guilford Technical Community College has a hospitality management associate degree program that can be completed in five semesters. The 72-credit program provides courses in restaurant management, club and resort management, food and beverage service, cost control and facilities management in addition to accounting and beverage management. This program also offers students the opportunity to participate in a co-op work experience.

Johnson and Wales University - Charlotte

Johnson and Wales University offers a bachelor's degree program in restaurant, food and beverage management at its campus in Charlotte. The curriculum provides courses like hotel food and beverage controls, food service operations management, European cuisine, dining service management and mixology. Concentrations are offered in various areas of the hospitality field, including food and beverage management, entertainment management, beverage service management and international hospitality operations. Study-abroad opportunities are available for hospitality students as well.

Nash Community College

Nash Community College is located in Rocky Mount and offers students the opportunity to pursue a restaurant management certificate and a hospitality management associate degree. The restaurant management certificate is a 12-credit program that teaches students about food and beverage service, marketing, restaurant management and sanitation. Students enrolled in the hospitality management associate degree program take courses like human resource management, sanitation, food and beverage service, menu design and beverage management. Two co-op work experiences are included in the degree program.

Sandhills Community College

Sandhills Community College is located in Pinehurst, and students at the school can pursue a hospitality management associate degree. The 76-credit program can be completed in five semesters. Students in the program learn about hotel and restaurant accounting, food and beverage service, sanitation, restaurant management and marketing. Co-op experiences are also part of the curriculum.

Wake Tech Community College

Students at Wake Tech Community College in Raleigh can obtain restaurant management training at the certificate and associate degree levels. The 15-credit restaurant management certificate program includes courses in food and beverage service, human resource management, wine appreciation, beverage management and menu design. The 68-credit hospitality management associate degree program provides instruction in cost control, food and beverage service, accounting, marketing and management.
