Students seeking sewing classes in Northern Virginia can take them as part of an undergraduate degree program in fashion design. These programs not only teach sewing techniques but also prepare students to sketch fashion pieces and measure and cut fabrics into various outfits. During their studies, students may get opportunities to do internships for fashion companies, study abroad and make creations for college fashion shows. Another important part of a fashion design program is the creation of a portfolio, which is a key tool used to demonstrate ones abilities to future apparel manufacturers and designers.
