Central Connecticut State University is located in New Britain, Connecticut approximately 15 minutes away from Hartford. The most popular undergraduate majors are business, management and marketing, social sciences, education, psychology and English language and literature. Central Connecticut State University offers certificates in addition to bachelors, masters and doctoral level degree programs.

Central Connecticut State University is located in the suburban community of New Britain, and is just 15 minutes from the state capital of Hartford. As the oldest public university in the state of Connecticut, CCSU ranked respectably in the third tier of the America's Best Colleges list.

CCSU awards certificates, as well as bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees in 100 majors and more than 80 fields of study. The most popular majors are business, management and marketing, social sciences, education, psychology, and English language and literature.

CCSU is known for its politically and socially active student body with regularly hosted events, forums and protests. Students are encouraged to participate in a network of study-abroad opportunities in order to prepare students to become 'global citizens' who can succeed in an international marketplace. In fact, the university has established partnerships with 70 leading universities in nearly 40 countries throughout the world.

In addition to its five fraternities and sororities, CCSU students can participate in over 100 registered organizations which include honor societies, religious, minority and international groups and various student activities.

Students applying to Central Connecticut State University compete in a 'less selective' admission process with a 60% acceptance rate. Accepted students typically have SAT test scores between 940 and 1,120. Seventy-five percent of incoming freshman rank in the top 50 percent of their high school class.

The student-to-faculty ratio at CCSU is 19:1. Forty-one percent of classes have fewer than 20 students.
