Dartmouth College is a private institution in Hanover, a rural region of western New Hampshire. Founded in 1769, the school is a member of the Ivy League. Dartmouth is ranked #11 overall in the 2008 America's Best Colleges report from U.S. News & World Report and features elite academic programs in a broad range of disciplines. The smallest of the Ivy League schools, Dartmouth is also known for its focus on providing students with intensive personalized instruction. The college's remarkable 8:1 student-faculty ratio is one of the best in the nation.

Located in a wooded rural area, Dartmouth offers a pleasing setting in which to pursue a college education. An impressive system of libraries, museums, performance venues and galleries provide for a rich cultural life at the school. Dartmouth is home to 4,000 undergraduates. One of the 'most selective' schools in the nation, the college has an overall acceptance rate of just 16 percent. Incoming students typically score in the 1350 to 1550 range on the SAT and the 28 to 34 range on the ACT.
