Eastern Kentucky University is located in Richmond, Kentucky approximately 25 miles south of Lexington. The most popular majors are health professions, education, security and protective services, business and psychology. Eastern Kentucky University offers certificates in addition to associates, bachelors and masters level degrees.

In addition to its main campus in the rural community of Richmond, Eastern Kentucky University, often referred to as Eastern or EKU, has four extension campuses in Corbin, Danville, Manchester and Lancaster. Eastern was recently awarded the #60 spot among southern universities on America's Best Colleges list.

Eastern awards certificates, as well as associate's through master's degrees in 168 academic programs. Additionally, doctorate programs are offered jointly with the University of Kentucky.

The most popular majors at Eastern are health professions, education, security and protective services, business and psychology. Pre-professional programs are offered in law, dentistry, medicine, veterinary science, optometry and pharmacy.

Eastern boasts small class sizes and an active campus life with over 175 registered student organizations, including intramural sports, student government, political organizations and Greek chapters.

Eastern, which is considered a 'selective' university with a freshman acceptance rate of 65 percent, caters to the needs of the non-traditional student as well by offering evening and weekend classes. More than 80 percent of its students enter the job market in a field related to their major within one year of graduation.
