Kansas State University is located in Manhattan, Kansas approximately 50 miles west of Topeka. The most popular majors for undergrads are business, management and marketing, education, agriculture, social sciences and engineering.

Kansas State University, located in the urban community of Manhattan, is the second largest college in the state of Kansas. The university is ranked #124 on the America's Best Colleges list. In addition to its overall high ranking, K-State's programs in engineering and business were also awarded with top 100 honors.

With more than 60 academic departments, students can choose from more than 250 undergraduate majors, and graduate students can choose from more than 100 master's, doctorate and certificate programs. The most popular majors at Kansas State are business, management and marketing, education, agriculture, social sciences and engineering.

The university owns 18,000 acres for agricultural research, and it is the leading American university in food safety research and training. It is also the hub for the National Agricultural Biosecurity Center. Kansas State researchers discovered the excimer laser, which has made LASIK eye surgery possible.

The university's Student Governing Association is the largest of over 400 registered student organizations. Other organizations include 20 sports clubs, 53 national honor society chapters and 40 fraternities and sororities. The K-State Wildcats also participate in the N.C.A.A. Division I as a member of the Big 12 Conference.

Considered a 'more selective' school, K-State has a freshman acceptance rate of 83 percent. Most incoming freshman graduate in the top 50 percent of their high school classes and have ACT test scores between 21 and 28.
