The University of California at Berkeley is located just east of San Francisco in Berkeley, California. The most popular degrees are cellular and molecular biology, political science, economics, English and psychology. UC Berkeley offers certificates in addition to bachelors, masters, professional and doctorate level degree programs.

Located on the east shore of the San Francisco Bay, the University of California - Berkeley is the oldest of the ten institutions in the University of California System. Ranked #21st in U.S. News & World Report's America's Best Colleges list, Berkeley has many top-rated academic programs, including 21 top #15 rated programs in business and engineering.

As one of the top research universities in the country, Berkeley is credited with the development of the first cyclotron and the isolation of the human polio virus. Research discoveries have resulted in Nobel Prize awards for 20 members of Berkeley faculty.

Berkeley awards certificates, as well as bachelor's, master's, professional and doctorate degrees in more than 300 programs. The five most popular majors are cellular and molecular biology, political science, economics, English, and psychology.

Berkeley students participate in over 500 groups and organizations and support the Golden Bear athletic teams who compete in the Pacific 10 conference.

Berkeley's admission process is one of the 'most selective' in the country with a 24 percent acceptance rate. Typical incoming freshmen carry a grade point average of 3.8 and submit SAT test scores between 1,200 and 1,450. And nearly all incoming students graduate in the top 10 percent of their high school classes.
