The University of Florida is located in Gainesville, Florida approximately 70 miles southwest of Jacksonville. The most popular undergraduate majors include business, management and marketing, social sciences, engineering, communication and journalism and health professions. The University of Florida offers bachelors, masters and doctoral level degree programs.

The University of Florida sits on a 2,000-acre campus in the northern suburban community of Gainesville. Florida is one of the nation's five largest universities, and has achieved a 'Public Ivy' designation as well as ranking of #49th on the 2008 U.S. News list of America's Best Colleges.

In addition to its exceptional overall ranking, the University of Florida was awarded top 30 rankings for its programs in business, accounting, real estate, finance, management, marketing, operations management, and quantitative analysis. Specific engineering programs taking top honors were environmental, civil, industrial, materials and agriculture.

Florida awards bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees and offers more than 100 undergraduate majors. The most popular majors are business, management and marketing, social sciences, engineering, communication and journalism and health professions.

The university libraries make up the largest information resource system in the state of Florida and contain more than four million volumes, seven million microfilms and thousands of electronic journals.

In addition to over 660 registered student organizations, the University of Florida students compete in more than 60 intramural and club sports. The Florida Gators athletic teams also rank among the nation's ten best athletic programs in each of the last 20 years.

Florida maintains a 'more selective' admission process with a 48 percent acceptance rate. Incoming freshmen typically score between 1,140 and 1,360 on the SAT.
