The University of Kansas is located in Lawrence, Kansas approximately 25 miles east of Topeka. The most popular majors for undergrads are business, management, marketing, biological and biomedical sciences, journalism and psychology. The University of Kansas offers certificates in addition to bachelors and doctorate degree programs.

The University of Kansas sits on 1,000 acres in the urban arts community of Lawrence, Kansas. In addition to its current overall ranking at #85 on U.S. News & World Report's list of America's Best Colleges, Kansas features nationally ranked programs in both business and engineering.

Kansas awards certificates, as well as bachelor's and doctorate degrees in more than 170 fields of study, including its affiliated university medical center and hospital. More than 20 percent of Kansas students major in business, management and marketing. Other popular majors include biological and biomedical sciences, journalism, psychology, and speech and rhetorical studies. Pre-professional programs are offered in law, dentistry, medicine, veterinary science and optometry.

Students participate in more than 500 registered organizations, including 39 fraternities and sororities and a student-run newspaper as well as a radio and television station.

Considered to be a 'more selective' school, Kansas has a freshman acceptance rate of 77 percent. Incoming freshman typically have a grade point average of 3.4 and ACT test scores of 22 to 28. A full 90 percent of accepted students graduate in the top 50 percent of their high school classes.
