The University of Michigan at Ann Arbor is located in Ann Arbor, Michigan approximately 40 miles west of Detroit. The most popular majors for undergrads are engineering, psychology, English and political science. The University of Michigan at Ann Arbor offers certificates in addition to bachelors, masters and doctoral level degree programs.

The University of Michigan at Ann Arbor is the state's oldest university, as well as the flagship campus of the University of Michigan System. In addition to two satellite campuses in Flint and Dearborn, the university owns one of the most well-regarded academic medical centers in the nation, the University of Michigan Health System. The University of Michigan also ranked #25 on U.S. News & World Report's list of America's Best Colleges.

In addition to its high overall ranking, Michigan also ranked #3 in the nation for its business department and #7 for its engineering department with twenty individual programs taking top 15 honors, including management, marketing, aerospace and industrial engineering.

Michigan awards certificates, as well as bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees in over 200 programs through 12 schools and colleges. Approximately 15 percent of undergraduates major in engineering. Other popular majors include psychology, English, and political science.

Michigan is highly recognized for its commitment to research. The school's Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program creates partnerships between first and second year students and University of Michigan faculty. All schools and colleges participate, and just under a 1,000 students are currently engaged in research partnerships.

Michigan is considered 'most selective' in its admission process, with a 47 percent acceptance rate. Typical incoming freshmen carry a grade point average of 3.8 and submit SAT test scores between 1,210 and 1,420 or ACT test scores between 27 and 31.
