The University of Rhode Island is located in Kingston, Rhode Island approximately 30 miles southwest of Providence. The most popular majors for undergraduates are Communications, Psychology, Human Development, Nursing and Political Science.

The University of Rhode Island is a public research institution with four campuses, the flagship institution being located in Kingston. Originally chartered as an agricultural school in 1888, Rhode Island has long since expanded its curriculum to offer programs in a wide variety of academic fields with its business programs garnering the most acclaim nationally.

Set on a large campus of more than 1,200 acres, the University of Rhode Island at Kingston occupies a rural area in the southern part of the state. The school is near the Atlantic Ocean, which offers easy access to beaches and many recreational activities. The University also has a close-knit community of students with a healthy Greek system and over 80 student organizations with diverse interests to participate in.

The University of Rhode Island provides over 80 undergraduate majors through 10 colleges as well as dynamic interdisciplinary programs. Popular majors among undergraduates include Communications, Psychology, Human Development, Nursing and Political Science.

The University of Rhode Island's primary campus at Kingston is home to nearly 12,000 undergraduate students. Known as a 'selective' institution, the college has a freshman acceptance rate of 74 percent. Incoming students carry a grade point average of 3.1 and typically have scores ranging from 1000 to 1195 on the SAT.
