Western Kentucky University is located in Bowling Green, Kentucky approximately 100 miles southwest of Louisville. The most popular majors are education, business, social sciences, communication and journalism and liberal arts. Western Kentucky University offers certificates and diplomas in addition to associates, bachelors, masters and doctoral level degree programs.

Located on a hill overlooking the urban community of Bowling Green is Western Kentucky University. With a prominent reputation for world-class research, WKU was awarded a ranking of #32 among southern universities in the America's Best Colleges report.

Western Kentucky awards certificates and diplomas, as well as associate's through doctorate degrees. Nearly 20 percent of WKU undergraduate students major in education. Other popular majors include business, social sciences, communication and journalism and liberal arts.

With over 250 registered student organizations to choose from, students can participate in activities, honor societies, an active Greek life, religious, minority and international organizations, and student athletics. WKU student athletes, known as the Hilltoppers and the Lady Toppers, compete in the Sun Belt Conference.

As a 'selective' institution, Western Kentucky has a freshman acceptance rate of 91 percent. Typical incoming freshmen have a grade point average of 3.2 and ACT test scores of 18 to 24. Almost 95 percent of classes at WKU have less than 49 students. The student-to-faculty ratio is 18:1.
